Wine red fronds with silvery sheen. Japanese Painted Fern is one of the lovliest of ferns. Likes partial to full shade and moist to wet soil rich with organic matter. Deciduous. Will die back completely in winter. Looks especially nice grown with other plants with purple coloring such as Heuchera.
